Why is our union with Christ important for holiness?

Answered in 1 source

Our union with Christ is essential for holiness because it is through Him that we receive righteousness and are empowered to live a holy life.

Union with Christ is a crucial aspect of the Christian faith as it denotes our spiritual connection to Him as believers. In John 15:5, Jesus states, 'I am the vine, you are the branches.' This illustrates that without Him, we can do nothing, especially in terms of producing the fruit of holiness in our lives. Our righteousness is derived from Christ; therefore, it is only by being united with Him that we become partakers of His holiness. This union allows the Holy Spirit to work within us, conforming us to the image of Christ and enabling us to live lives that honor God.
