Why is participating in Communion important for Christians?

Communion, or the Lord's Supper, is vital for Christians as it serves as a physical reminder of the spiritual reality of Christ's sacrifice. When Jesus instructed His disciples to participate in Communion, He emphasized remembrance: 'Do this in remembrance of me' (1 Corinthians 11:24). This means that every time we partake, we acknowledge and proclaim the significance of His body broken and blood shed for our salvation.
