Why is perfection necessary for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Without perfection, a person cannot stand in the presence of a holy God.

Perfection is necessary for salvation because God, in His holiness, cannot accept anything imperfect. Leviticus 22:21 indicates that offerings to God must be perfect to be accepted. Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), it is essential for believers to be covered by the perfection of Christ. Christ’s sacrifice fulfills the requirement for perfection, allowing us to be accepted by God. If any imperfection remained in us, God would be unjust to accept us into His presence, as His justice demands that all sin be punished. Therefore, Christ’s perfect righteousness is vital for our justification and acceptance before God.
