Why is practicing what we know about the Gospel important for happiness?

Answered in 1 source

Practicing the truths of the Gospel leads to genuine happiness as it aligns our lives with Christ's teachings.

Christ teaches that knowledge without application is insufficient for true happiness. As stated in John 13:17, 'If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.' The emphasis here is on the connection between knowing and doing; theoretical knowledge of the Gospel must be integrated into our daily lives. Without action, knowledge can lead to discontentment. When we live out the teachings of Christ, actively serving others and seeking holiness, we experience the joy and fulfillment intended for believers. Therefore, happiness arises not from the pursuit of self but from living in obedience to Christ's commands, which ultimately blesses both us and those around us.
