Why is preaching about Jesus Christ central to faith?

Answered in 1 source

Preaching about Jesus Christ is central to faith as He is the object of our faith and the source of our salvation.

In the pulpit, the emphasis must be on Christ and His work, as seen in 1 Corinthians 2:2 where Paul states he determined to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. This focus is vital because faith must have a rightful object to be effective, and that object is Christ alone. The historical Reformed perspective maintains that all preaching should point to Christ as the only Savior, illustrating the necessity of His sacrifice, atonement, and ongoing presence in the believer's life. A faith that is not centered on Christ is not true saving faith.
