Why is prejudice a problem in the church?

Answered in 1 source

Prejudice hinders fellowship and misrepresents the inclusive nature of Christ's mission.

Prejudice arose among the disciples when they forbade someone casting out demons in Jesus’ name simply because he was not one of their group (Luke 9:49). This attitude contradicts the essence of the Gospel, which calls all believers to unity in Christ, regardless of sect or affiliation. Rather than focusing on divisions, believers should recognize that 'whoever is not against us is for us' (Mark 9:40). Prejudice isolates individuals and groups, obstructing the mission of Christ to save and unite. Thus, understanding the importance of accepting all who serve God is crucial for the church's health and growth.
