Why is regeneration considered a miracle?

Answered in 1 source

Regeneration is called a miracle because it is a supernatural act of God that gives spiritual life to those who were spiritually dead.

The concept of regeneration as a miracle stems from its foundation in the sovereign grace of God. As described in Ephesians 2:1, we were dead in trespasses and sins, unable to contribute to our own salvation. Regeneration, therefore, is the divine work of God bringing new life into a heart that was previously unresponsive to Him. This transformative act leads to a genuine faith and a new nature that desires to walk in God’s ways. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, anyone in Christ is a new creation; this radical change can only occur through God's miraculous grace, showing His power to redeem and restore.
