Why is relying on God's strength more important than our own efforts?

Answered in 1 source

Relying on God's strength prevents pride and acknowledges His sovereign control over all circumstances.

When we depend on our own abilities, we risk becoming proud and self-reliant, which leads us away from the grace of God. The Bible teaches that we should judge God's work not by our circumstances but by His promises (Romans 8:28). By trusting in His strength and wisdom, we are reminded of who truly holds power over our lives. This reliance also fosters humility, as we recognize that any good we accomplish is not from our efforts but from His gracious hand guiding us. This is why God often chooses the weak things of the world to confound the mighty (1 Corinthians 1:27), showing that our worth is found in Christ and His redemptive work.
