Why is relying on understanding harmful for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Relying on our own understanding leads to anxiety and undermines faith in God.

Scripture warns against leaning on our own understanding, as it can lead to pride and anxiety. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are advised to 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.' Our understanding is limited and often misguided, which makes it unsafe to depend on in uncertain circumstances. Instead, trusting in God allows us to experience His peace that surpasses understanding, freeing us from the burden of trying to control everything through our limited knowledge.
