Why is rest important for believers?

Answered in 1 source

Rest signifies reliance on Christ's completed work, providing peace for our souls.

Rest is vitally important for believers as it symbolizes the peace we find in Christ. The restless soul seeks hope and acceptance, often through self-effort or works; however, true rest is achieved by ceasing from these labors and trusting entirely in Christ's righteousness. By resting, we acknowledge that our salvation and sanctification are solely dependent on Him, not our own merits. The promise of rest invites believers to come to Christ in their weariness, ensuring they receive the grace they need for spiritual sustenance and ongoing sanctification.
