Why is resting in Christ essential for faith?

Answered in 1 source

Resting in Christ signifies complete reliance on Him for all aspects of salvation.

Resting in Christ is a core aspect of true faith, as it signifies our relinquishing of self-effort and fully depending on Him for salvation. Hebrews 4:9-10 states, 'There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.' This rest is not merely physical but is a deep spiritual assurance that we are secure in Christ's finished work. When we enter into this rest, we stop striving for acceptance or attempting to earn salvation through our deeds. Instead, we trust that Christ has fulfilled all righteousness on our behalf and find comfort in His sovereignty, knowing that our salvation is complete in Him.
