Why is righteousness important in the kingdom of God?

Answered in 1 source

Righteousness is foundational in the kingdom of God as it pertains to the work of Christ, who imparts His righteousness to believers.

In the kingdom of God, righteousness is essential as it is directly linked to the work of Jesus Christ. This righteousness encompasses both His active obedience in fulfilling the law and His passive obedience in dying for our sins. Righteousness is not merely an abstract attribute but is imputed to believers through faith in Christ, as the Apostle Paul describes in Romans. This imputed righteousness enables believers to stand justified before God, signifying their acceptance and reconciliation with Him. Isaiah foretold this righteousness, saying it would spring forth with the coming of the Messiah. Therefore, in the spiritual kingdom, righteousness is what ensures that believers can experience peace with God, which is a hallmark of true spiritual life.
