Why is salvation through grace important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Salvation through grace is essential because it emphasizes that redemption is a gift from God, not earned by human effort.

Understandably, the concept of grace is paramount to true Christianity as it underscores the belief that we are saved not by works, but through God's initiative alone. Ephesians 1 elaborates that our salvation is accomplished by God's eternal purpose and the blood of Christ, which is the only sufficient means for our redemption. This realization is liberating, fostering humility in believers as they acknowledge their total dependence on God's grace, instead of their accomplishments or decisions that many other religions promote.
