Why is spiritual growth important for Christians?

Answered in 17 sources

Spiritual growth is essential as it strengthens our understanding and relationship with Christ, enabling us to see Him and His work more clearly over time.

Spiritual growth holds significant importance for Christians as it transforms our relationship with Christ and enhances our comprehension of His grace and truth. The journey of spiritual maturity involves progressing from a simplistic and often distorted understanding of spiritual matters—represented by the blind man's initial view of 'men as trees'—to a clearer, fuller vision. This process reassures believers that while they may face periods of confusion or limited understanding, it is not a sign of spiritual death but rather a part of growing in faith. Each step towards clarity breeds deeper trust and reliance on Jesus, culminating in the assurance that He who began this good work in us will carry it through to completion. Thus, maintaining an attitude of gratitude for spiritual attainments, regardless of their size, is vital in the Christian life.
