Why is spiritual regeneration important for understanding the Gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Spiritual regeneration is crucial because it enables individuals to perceive and receive the truths of the Gospel that the natural mind cannot grasp.

Spiritual regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit that transforms a natural man into a spiritual man, allowing him to comprehend the truths of the Gospel. In 1 Corinthians 2:12-14, Paul explains that without the Holy Spirit, individuals cannot truly know or receive the things of God, as these truths are viewed as foolishness to them. Regeneration grants the believer the necessary spiritual faculties to understand divine truths, as it imparts new life and insight. This transformation is essential not just for intellectual understanding, but for genuine belief and acceptance of the Gospel. Without regeneration, all attempts to accept or embrace divine truths will ultimately fail, reinforcing the necessity of faith that is gifted by God through the Spirit.
