Why is the application of the blood important?

Answered in 1 source

The application of Christ's blood signifies faith and is essential for salvation.

In Exodus 12, the Israelites were commanded to apply the lamb's blood to their doorposts, indicating that mere sacrifice was not sufficient without belief in God's promise. This act of applying the blood is symbolic of placing our faith in Christ for salvation. It illustrates how God's saving grace operates: He applies the blood to our hearts, and we accept this gift through faith. This is the essence of being justified before God — it is through faith we claim the promise that, because the blood of Jesus has been applied, we are protected from divine judgment. Thus, faith and obedience to the gospel are integral aspects of salvation.
