Why is the assurance of God important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

The assurance of God’s calling and presence is crucial for Christians as it strengthens their faith and fortifies them during times of trial (Deuteronomy 31:8).

The assurance of God is vital for believers, as illustrated when God Himself encouraged Joshua with the promise, 'I will be with thee' (Deuteronomy 31:8). This divine reassurance is essential because Christians face numerous trials and uncertainties throughout their lives. Knowing that God has called them and will support them provides the needed strength and courage to face challenges. Furthermore, earthly encouragement from fellow believers, while helpful, pales in comparison to the confidence that comes from God's direct assurance. It is through this confidence that Christians can navigate difficulties with a steadfast heart and an unwavering spirit, understanding that the God who calls them into His service also equips and sustains them through their journeys.
