Why is the call to repentance important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

The call to repentance is vital for Christians as it acknowledges God's mercy and leads to spiritual transformation and reconciliation with Him.

Repentance is central to the Christian faith, as Jesus Himself stated in Matthew 9 that He came to call sinners to repentance. This call requires an acknowledgment of our sins and a deep desire to turn away from them, seeking God's forgiveness and grace. In Psalm 51, we see David exemplifying true repentance by recognizing that his sin is ultimately against God and appealing to God's mercy. For Christians, this ongoing process of repentance reflects our understanding of God's holiness and our need for His grace, leading us to live in accordance with His will and in the liberty He provides through Christ.
