Why is the concept of a new heart important in Christian faith?

Answered in 1 source

A new heart is essential for Christians as it signifies regeneration and the ability to submit to God’s will.

In Jeremiah 31:33, the promise of a new covenant includes giving His people a new heart. This transformation is critical because, apart from Christ, our hearts are enmity against God (Romans 8:7). The new heart enables believers to respond in obedience and humility to God's providential dealings, leading to a life that reflects the grace of Jesus. It is through this new heart that one can truly embrace God's truth and love, exhibiting genuine righteousness instead of self-righteousness.
