Why is the concept of assurance important for Christians?

Answered in 12 sources

Assurance is vital for Christians as it provides peace and security in salvation, knowing that they are accepted by God through Christ's righteousness.

Assurance is a crucial aspect of the believer's experience as it leads to peace and confidence in their relationship with God. According to Isaiah 32:17, the effect of righteousness includes 'quietness and assurance forever.' This assurance comes not from our own efforts but from the knowledge that Christ's righteousness is imputed to us. As believers, we can have confidence that we are secure in His love and grace, as our standing before God is based entirely on Christ's finished work. The peace that accompanies this assurance allows Christians to live boldly and joyfully, trusting in God's promises and sovereignty.
