Why is the concept of brotherly love important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Brotherly love is crucial for Christians as it reflects our relationship with God and demonstrates our faith to the world.

The concept of brotherly love is vital in the Christian faith because it serves as a litmus test for our spiritual condition. According to 1 John, loving the brethren is how we know we have truly transitioned from spiritual death to life. This love is especially significant because it distinguishes us from the world; Christ Himself taught that the world would know us by our love for one another. In a time when self-love and pride dominate, the love Christians show towards each other can powerfully demonstrate the reality of God's grace at work within us, effectively pointing others to Christ.
