Why is the concept of Christ as our high priest important?

Answered in 9 sources

Christ as our high priest is crucial because He intercedes for us and offers a perfect sacrifice, establishing a direct relationship with God.

Christ's role as our high priest is significant in that He fulfills the office in a way that the Old Testament priests could not. Unlike the earthly high priests who made annual sacrifices, Christ entered heaven itself with His own blood, offering a perfect and once-for-all atonement for sin. This establishes a new covenant in which believers can approach God directly, as the veil separating mankind from God's presence was torn at Christ's death (Matthew 27:51). He continually intercedes on behalf of His people, ensuring that we have direct access to God, solidifying our relationship with Him. Therefore, understanding Christ as our high priest is foundational for grasping the depth of our salvation and the nature of our relationship with God.
