Why is the concept of Christ's atonement significant for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's atonement is significant because it reconciles us to God and grants us access to His presence.

The significance of Christ's atonement lies in its sufficiency and finality. Unlike the sacrifices in the Old Testament, which were repeated annually and could not take away sin, Christ’s sacrifice was once and for all, abolishing the need for further offerings. This pivotal act has removed the veil that kept humanity from God’s presence, providing believers with boldness to enter directly into the Holy of Holies, reconciled to God through the blood of Christ. Thus, we are able to approach God with assurance and confidence.
