Why is the concept of Christ's blood necessary for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's blood is necessary for salvation because it satisfies the justice of God, providing the only means for our redemption and eternal life.

In the historic Reformed understanding, the necessity of Christ's blood for salvation cannot be overstated. The shedding of blood signifies the gravity of sin and the cost of redemption (Hebrews 9:22). Christ's sacrificial death fulfills the legal requirements of God's justice, allowing for God's mercy to be extended to sinners. As displayed during the Passover, the blood of the lamb spared the Israelites from death, paralleling how Christ's blood spares believers from the eternal penalty of sin. Without His blood, we would remain under condemnation, as the law requires righteous judgment for sin. Therefore, God's provision of Christ as the perfect Lamb is the foundation for our assurance of salvation and hope of eternal life.
