Why is the concept of God becoming man important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

It is crucial because only as God in human flesh can Jesus adequately save sinners and fulfill divine justice through His sacrifice.

The incarnation is vital for Christians because it underscores the uniqueness of Jesus Christ as the perfect mediator between God and man. Only as God incarnate could He bear the wrath of God against sin and offer a sufficient sacrifice for His people. The necessity of Christ's coming in the flesh stems from the fact that a perfect man was required to die for sinful humanity. As Hebrews 2:10 articulates, Jesus, through His sufferings, became the captain of our salvation, typifying the redemptive plan of God through His fleshly existence and sacrificial death.
