Why is the concept of Jesus as a Just Judge important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus as a Just Judge is crucial because He ensures that all sin is justly punished, allowing for true mercy.

Jesus being our Just Judge is vital to our understanding of His nature and His work of salvation. He embodies absolute justice and righteousness, meaning that no wrongdoing goes unpunished. In Genesis 18:25, it states, 'Shall not the judge of the earth do right?' This highlights that our trust in Him includes reliance on His just character. For a sinner, this justice can initially seem daunting; however, it is crucial because true mercy stems from just punishment being satisfied through Jesus' sacrifice. Thus, while Jesus judges, He also justifies those who believe, so that God remains just while forgiving the unjust, as seen in Romans 3:26.
