Why is the concept of Jesus as priest important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus as our priest is crucial because He bridges the gap between a holy God and sinful humanity, granting us access to God’s grace.

The importance of Jesus as our high priest cannot be overstated. In the Old Testament, the high priest was the only one allowed to enter the Holy of Holies, and today, Jesus functions in that role for all believers. His unique qualifications as both God and man enable Him to empathize with our weaknesses while remaining sinless. This means He can intercede for us effectively. Moreover, through Christ's priesthood, we receive grace and mercy in our time of need, making it possible for us to approach God despite our shortcomings. His sacrificial blood covers our sins, providing us with confidence to enter God’s presence boldly (Hebrews 10:19-22).
