Why is the concept of joy important in heaven?

Answered in 1 source

Joy in heaven stems from the fulfillment of every need in Christ, providing eternal happiness and peace for believers.

Revelation 22:1-3 describes a scene with a "pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb," indicating that all needs will be met in heaven. This joy is not temporary or fleeting as experienced on earth; instead, it is rooted in the eternal presence of God and the fulfillment of purpose in serving Him. In heaven, there will be no more suffering, and the curse of sin will be lifted, allowing for an unbounded experience of happiness. The continuous serving and worshiping of God will produce a profound joy that surpasses any earthly experience of happiness. This joy is a vital doctrine because it reflects the ultimate hope of believers — that they will be free from the sorrows of this world and enjoy everlasting communion with their Creator.
