Why is the concept of predestination significant in Christian faith?

Answered in 1 source

Predestination assures believers of their salvation and God’s eternal purpose.

Predestination, as taught in Scripture, refers to God's sovereign choice to redeem certain individuals before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4-5 tells us that God 'chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself.' This concept serves as both a comfort and a challenge, affirming that salvation is wholly an act of God’s grace and not dependent on human efforts. It reinforces the security of the believer, knowing their salvation is part of God's eternal plan.
