Why is the concept of the chief cornerstone important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

The chief cornerstone represents Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Christian faith and the church.

The chief cornerstone is vital in understanding the role of Christ in the life of believers and the church. In Ephesians 2:20, Paul reminds us that the church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Himself as the cornerstone. This metaphor signifies that Jesus is the essential support, holding everything together, and without Him, no true building or faith can stand. Just as the ancient temple required a solid foundation to function properly, our faith rests wholly upon the person and work of Jesus. He is the means through which we have access to God, and any attempt to approach God outside of Christ is futile (John 14:6).
