Why is the concept of the Trinity important?

Answered in 1 source

The Trinity underscores the complexity and unity of God in salvation and reveals how each person of the Godhead participates in our redemption.

Understanding the Trinity is crucial to grasp the fullness of God's revelation and His redemptive work. The doctrine of the Trinity denotes that there is one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, yet they are distinct. This understanding is foundational to recognizing how God saves His people through the Son's atonement while the Spirit applies that redemption to believers. Without acknowledging the distinct roles of each person in the Trinity, we risk distorting the gospel and undermining the truth of who God is and how He interacts with His creation.
