Why is the doctrine of Christ's nature important?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's nature as fully God and fully man is essential for understanding salvation and His role as our mediator.

The doctrine of Christ's nature is fundamental to the Christian faith because it directly impacts our understanding of salvation. As stated in 1 John 4:2, every spirit that confesses Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God. This reveals that Jesus is both fully divine and fully human, which qualifies Him to be our mediator. His humanity allows Him to relate to our human experience, suffering, and weaknesses, while His divinity enables Him to bear the full weight of our sins in His sacrifice (Galatians 4:4-5). This dual nature is what makes salvation possible, as He fulfills the law on our behalf and offers Himself as the perfect substitute. Denying either aspect of His nature leads to a distorted understanding of the gospel, stray from the truth of Scripture, and ultimately results in spiritual deception.
