Many find this message offensive because it wounds their pride, showing them that they cannot earn their salvation through their own efforts. As stated in 1 Corinthians 1:18, 'the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness,' highlighting how the natural man perceives the gospel as a threat to their self-justification. The truth is, the gospel humbles those who think they are righteous by revealing that salvation is entirely a work of God.
