Why is the gospel essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel is essential because it reveals God's plan of salvation through Christ's death and resurrection.

The gospel is fundamental to the Christian faith as it encapsulates the good news of Jesus Christ—His life, death, and resurrection. It is through the gospel that we understand that we were 'dead in sins' and need salvation (Ephesians 2:1). Romans 5:8 tells us that 'while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,' showcasing the magnitude of God's love and the essence of grace. The gospel assures believers of their justification and reconciliation with God through faith in Christ. Without the gospel, there is no hope for eternal life, as it is the divine means by which God has chosen to save His people and demonstrate His glory.
