Why is the gospel more important than signs and wonders?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel is God's ultimate revelation of grace and truth, unlike fleeting signs and wonders.

The gospel is the embodiment of God's mercy and grace, offering salvation through Christ rather than temporary signs or miraculous events. In Luke 16, the rich man seeks a sign to persuade his brothers, but Abraham replies that they have Moses and the prophets—an affirmation that God's written Word is sufficient for salvation. Signs and wonders may captivate the flesh, but they cannot replace the transformative power found in the message of Christ. The gospel remains the only means by which souls can be saved, and it provides the eternal hope and assurance that transient phenomena cannot offer.
