Why is the heart important for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation is fundamentally a matter of the heart, as it is from the heart that true faith and belief arise.

The heart plays a pivotal role in the understanding of salvation within a biblical context. The sermon emphasizes that until God speaks to the heart, the soul remains in darkness, and the question of 'What must I do to inherit eternal life?' will remain unanswered. True comfort and assurance come when God regenerates the heart, enabling the sinner to believe and receive the truth of Christ's finished work. Therefore, it is not merely intellectual assent but a heartfelt response to God's revelation that marks true salvation. The heart, being the seat of emotions and decision-making, must be transformed by the Holy Spirit to grasp the realities of God’s grace and to respond in faith.
