Why is the Holy Spirit necessary for the church?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit is essential as He empowers the church to understand and live out the Gospel effectively, bringing true transformation (1 Corinthians 2:12).

The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in the life of the church as He is the one who illuminates our understanding of God’s Word and brings conviction to believers. In Revelation 3 and throughout Scripture, it is evident that the Spirit is vital for the church's witness and effectiveness. Without the Spirit's influence, any preaching or teaching is merely intellectual and devoid of the life-giving power necessary to transform hearts. The Spirit of God not only guides us into all truth (John 16:13) but also empowers believers for every aspect of service and ministry. The church must rely on the Spirit for strength and direction, or it risks becoming stagnant and ineffective, much like the church at Sardis.
