Why is the incarnation of Christ essential for Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

The incarnation is essential because it embodies God's revelation and provides salvation through Jesus as both God and man.

The incarnation of Christ, described as 'a child is born, a son is given' in Isaiah 9:6, is crucial to Christianity because it encompasses the fulfillment of God's promises and the means of our salvation. By taking on human flesh, God was able to relate to us fully while simultaneously remaining true to His divine nature. This duality is necessary for our redemption; only one who is both God and man can serve as an adequate mediator between us and the Father, delivering us from sin and offering eternal life. Without the incarnation, our hope in Christ would be empty, as there would be no perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins.
