Why is the kingdom of Christ considered a spiritual kingdom?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's kingdom is spiritual as it transcends earthly structures and is established in the hearts of believers through the Holy Spirit.

The kingdom of Christ is fundamentally spiritual, as articulated in Isaiah 42:2, where it states that He will not raise His voice or strive in the streets. This reveals that His reign does not rely on earthly powers or political systems but on a transformative work within the hearts of people. In Luke 17:20-21, Jesus affirms this by saying, 'The kingdom of God does not come with observation, nor will they say, “See here!” or “See there!” For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.' This means that His authority operates through the Holy Spirit, who convicts and transforms believers, establishing a kingdom characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, as noted in Romans 14:17.
