Why is the knowledge of Jesus Christ important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Knowing Jesus Christ is crucial for Christians as it undergirds our faith and informs our understanding of God's grace and plan for salvation.

The knowledge of Jesus Christ is foundational for the Christian faith. In 1 John 5:20, it states that we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. This knowledge leads to a vibrant relationship with God, as our understanding of Christ informs our worship, obedience, and the operation of grace in our lives. Moreover, as we come to know Christ more deeply—recognizing His role as our Sovereign Savior, Priest, and King—we are empowered to live out the implications of our faith in practical ways. Thus, an increasing knowledge of Christ is essential for spiritual growth and effectiveness in our Christian walk.
