Why is the message of Christ vital in the Old Testament?

Answered in 1 source

The Old Testament foretells Christ's work and establishes the foundation for the gospel.

The Old Testament is filled with prophecies and types pointing to the person and work of Christ. Every book, including Daniel, encapsulates the story of redemption ultimately fulfilled in Jesus. As believers, recognizing that the prophets spoke of Christ allows us to connect the entirety of Scripture and understand God’s sovereign plan of salvation. The message of Christ serves as the cornerstone for our faith and assures us of God's consistency in revealing His truth through ages.
