Why is the message of salvation by grace often met with disbelief?

Answered in 1 source

Many find the message of salvation by grace too good to be true due to their understanding of justice and merit.

The message of salvation by grace is often met with skepticism because it counters human notions of meritocracy and justice. People struggle to accept that they can receive God's mercy freely without works (Romans 11:6). This disbelief stems from a heart that is not yet softened by grace, misunderstanding that salvation is about God’s action and not our accomplishment. It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit that hearts are opened to the beauty of this truth (1 Corinthians 2:14).
