Why is the new birth necessary for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

The new birth is necessary because all humans are spiritually dead in sin, and cannot enter the Kingdom of God without it.

The necessity of the new birth stems from the condition of humanity. Romans 3:23 states that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, indicating a spiritual death that prevents us from entering God's Kingdom. As shared in the sermon, flesh is likened to grass, which withers and fades away (1 Peter 1:24). Our first birth, rooted in sin, can only produce more sinful flesh, which is ultimately dead (John 3:6). Therefore, without the new birth, which imparts spiritual life and a new nature from God's incorruptible seed, there is no hope for salvation. This new birth rectifies our state by creating a new nature that is contrary to the old, enabling us to live righteously and glorify God.
