Why is the obedience of Christ important for Christians?

Answered in 5 sources

The obedience of Christ is crucial because it fulfills the law on our behalf, providing righteousness to those who believe.

Christ's perfect obedience is foundational to the doctrine of justification in Reformed theology. By living a sinless life and fully obeying the law, He met the requirements of righteousness necessary for our salvation (Romans 5:19). His active obedience, combined with His sacrificial death, secures both our justification and sanctification. Thus, Christians are not only forgiven but also regarded as righteous in God's sight because of Christ's work, reminding us that salvation is solely by grace through faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8-9).
