Why is the power of the Holy Spirit essential in preaching?

Answered in 1 source

The power of the Holy Spirit is essential in preaching because, without it, there can be no authentic faith or revelation of Christ.

Preaching, while important, must be accompanied by the power of God's Spirit to have any saving efficacy. John 6:44 clearly states that no one can come to Christ unless they are drawn by the Father, signifying that the work of the Holy Spirit is integral to the process of salvation. Effective preaching reveals the nature of sin and the beauty of Christ, but it is the Holy Spirit who regenerates, empowers, and enlightens the hearts of listeners. As Henry Mahan emphasizes, all the preaching in the world cannot produce conviction or conversion without this divine intervention. Thus, genuine faith and repentance are ultimately gifts from the Holy Spirit.
