Why is the preaching of the Gospel important for salvation?

Answered in 9 sources

The preaching of the Gospel is essential for salvation because it is through the message of Christ that God's chosen ones come to faith.

According to Romans 10:14, 'How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?' The Gospel must be preached for individuals to hear and respond to its truth. In the account of Cornelius in Acts 10, God sends Peter to share the Gospel message with him. This emphasizes the belief within sovereign grace theology that God sovereignly ordains both the preacher and the audience, ensuring that His Word reaches the hearts of the elect, leading them to saving faith. Thus, preaching is not just a duty but a primary means by which God accomplishes His redemptive purpose.
