Why is the preaching of the Word central to salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The preaching of the Word is central to salvation because it is the ordained means by which God reveals His truth and imparts life.

Preaching is vital in the believer’s life as it is the primary way God communicates His message of grace and truth. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the Word of God. This demonstrates that the act of preaching is not merely sharing information but is a means through which God generates faith and brings about spiritual transformation. In Ezekiel’s vision, the command to preach to the dry bones shows that God's Word has the power to bring life where there is death. Thus, the church is called to prioritize the faithful preaching of the gospel, understanding that through it, God works to save sinners.
