Why is the presence of God vital for humanity?

Answered in 1 source

The presence of God represents grace, true worship, and the only means of atonement, absent which, humanity suffers spiritual death.

The sermon makes a compelling case for the vital importance of God's presence for humanity. In Cain's expulsion, we see that to be cast out from the presence of God signifies complete separation from His grace and mercy. Cain's actions led him away from God’s prescribed mode of worship, where God states that communion occurs at the mercy seat where atonement was made. This presence is essential because it not only offers the means of salvation through Christ but signifies the assurance of His glory and guidance. Without acknowledgment of God in our lives, we wander aimlessly, as Cain did, devoid of hope and purpose, as illustrated through his life of fear and isolation.
