Why is the priesthood of Christ significant?

Answered in 2 sources

The priesthood of Christ is significant because He is our eternal high priest who saves us completely and intercedes for us before God (Hebrews 7:25).

Christ's high priesthood is central to the Christian faith because He serves as the one true mediator between God and humanity. Unlike the Old Testament priests who were fallible and had to offer sacrifices repeatedly, Christ offered Himself once for all as the perfect sacrifice. His priesthood is eternal and unchangeable, providing complete salvation to all who come to God through Him. This underscores His unique position as both divine and human, capable of fully representing us before the Father while also being the perfect sacrifice that satisfies God's justice and holiness.
