Why is the priesthood of Christ significant for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

The priesthood of Christ is significant because it assures Christians of their complete redemption and access to God.

Christ’s priesthood is significant for Christians as it provides assurance of complete redemption, having offered Himself as the once-for-all sacrifice for sin. Unlike the priests of the Old Covenant who had to offer continuous sacrifices, Jesus' sacrificial death effectively dealt with sin once and for all, allowing believers to approach God with confidence. His perfect obedience and role as mediator ensure that those set apart by God are accepted and seen as righteous in God's sight through Christ, fulfilling the demands of both law and grace.
